Romancing the Stones

Jewelry designers use different materials for inspiration. For me, the simple, beauty of semiprecious natural stones is like the siren's song. I just can't resist that beautiful melody.

And, following the sound of their music, they speak the design into being. They speak by feel, by shape, by texture, by color and by sparkle. The stones use me to create the design.

They confirm to me that this is what I was born to do. I was born to romance the stones.

Statement Jewlery Pieces

Women who wear statement jewelry are confident, they know who they are, and they know how to make an impression when entering a room.

Big, bold, or unique jewelry makes a statement about the person who wears it. It can be a timeless, collectible investment that is passed down to future generations. Even better, it is less expensive than buying a whole new wardrobe. Keep what you have in the closet and add the WOW factor through collectible statement jewelry.

Think Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe. Think red carpet looks on today's Hollywood starlets.

Divine Jewelry Creations creates signature jewelry pieces for women who want to create their own personal style in today's world. The golden age of jewelry is recreated in each signed collectible piece of art.

Vintage Vogue Obsession...

I'm a big fan of vintage vogue covers.  They speak to the inner fashionista in all of us. It's all about the glamour, the allure, the je ne sais quoi, of those covers that scream sophistication and style.  It's the whole package.  The clothes, the jewelry, the handbags, and, of course, the models we desperately want to look like, but never will.  No matter.  The impossible dream adds to our obsession with this iconic publication

Facebook Nirvana

I set up Divine Jewelry Creations Facebook page the last week in December 2011. Those of you that know me, recognize my lack of Facebook skills so it wasn't easy and my expectation level was pretty low.  January rolled around, nothing much happened.  So in early February, I enlisted the help of friends and family to try and hit a lofty goal of 10 Facebook fans.

The DJC Facebook page blew past that number and it now has 1,081 likes.  Wow!

Many thanks to all of you there in cyberspace that helped us reach that number .  Maybe some of you in the blogosphere can share how you reached Facebook Nirvana with my readers?  Not sure, but Facebook Nirvana seems to be measured by the number of "Likes" on your page.  I'm laughing as I write this blog because the all consuming pursuit of Facebook Page Likes can be very addictive, can't it?

What inspires you?

Everything inspires me, from a article of clothing, to an unexpected color combination, to simple forms in nature. Right now I am inspired by a set of perfect little blue quartz checkerboard cut briolettes. Once I saw these little beauties, a piece of jewelry inspired me to bring it into being.  Not finished yet, but you can see the finished product on the www.DivineJewelryCreations.com very soon!

All you jewelry lovers and jewelry designers out there, would love to know how YOU get inspired?

The Golden Age of Jewelry...

I've always been a fan of vintage costume jewelry made during the golden age of jewelry. The pieces that were produced by the top designers in the 30's, 40's, 50's were creative and exquisitely made. These designers fueled my passion for jewelry and gave me inspiration that, 25 years later, led to creation of my new own jewelry line:  http://www.divinejewelrycreations.com/

I want to give you some insight into my passion for jewelry by sharing a bit of information on those late, great jewelry designers.   Take a look at the links below to see some top designers who worked during that period.  Research names like: Hobe, Vendome, HAR, Elsa Schiaparelli, Schreiner, Barclay McClelland and Miriam Haskell.  These are my personal favorites
This site has great information on how to identify and research vintage costume jewlery:

This is my absouletly favorite site on all things Miriam Haskell:

All things Schreiner:

Of course, there are wonderful designers working today in all types of media but that's a subject for another day's blog.
Cheers
